Recently, Snapchat CEO, Evan Spiegel feels that Indians are too poor to use his rich people’s app Snapchat! Well, Snapchat’s CEO Evan Spiegel made some disgraceful remark for our nation. This all happened during a meeting to discuss the growth of Snapchat’s user base in 2015. An employee asked a question regarding Snapchat’s slow growth in Indian market. Evan Spiegel said that “this app is only for rich people” and he “don’t want to expand into poor countries like India and Spain” According to the reports from Variety, Anthony Pompliano, Snapchat’s former employee stated that Evan Spiegel said “This app is only for rich people. I don’t want to expand into poor countries like India and Spain.” Well, after this #BoycottSnapchat is trending on Facebook and twitter because every indian are angry with the statement from Snapchat’s CEO. Indian users not only started to uninstall the app but also started to give one rating to the app on Google Play Store. However, recently Snapchat releases an official statement over the ongoing issue where they claimed that Anthony Pompliano who made the claim was “fired for poor performance” and was also involved in a lawsuit with the company. An international spokesperson of Snap said in a statement “This is ridiculous. Obviously, Snapchat is for everyone! It’s available worldwide to download for free,” “Those words were written by a disgruntled former employee.
