Well, now the company aims to change the broadband landscape too. In September 2016, the company had tested FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) that promises broadband speeds of up to 1Gbps. Well, the good news is now the company had started to roll outs its Jio Fiber FTTH service in Mumbai. According to the reports from India Today, there are some buildings in Mumbai where people can subscribe to the service, following the finishing of the cable installation for the Jio Fibre, which began in November last year. We all know that FTTH service promises speeds of up to 1Gbps, but users are getting speed between 70mbps to 100Mbps. As an introductory offer, the company is giving its users free unlimited high-speed internet access for three months. Users just need to pay charges of Rs 4,500 for installation and the router. There is no word regarding how much users have to pay after three months of free usage. Reliance Jio even had plans to roll out fiber to home wireline network in metro cities like Pune, Delhi and Chennai in coming times. Reliance Jio Fibre broadband is quite similar to your existing wireless broadband service, but it uses fiber optic technology for establishing the high-speed connection. FTTH can offer speed up to 1Gbps. So, the network is capable of delivering the download speed of 125Mb per second. That means you can download a 500Mb file in just four seconds. Mukesh Ambani had earlier mentioned that the service will be available for both home and business subscribers. However, there is no word on when the commercial rollout will begin.
